More room for your ideas.
Structure you can build on.

Planning a bigger kitchen, a loft conversion or an extension? We help Bristol homeowners, architects and builders turn proposed changes into clear structural information.

Our approach

Your project, understood from the start.

A new opening can change how your home feels. It also changes how loads travel through the building. Our role is to understand the existing structure, assess the proposed work and explain what is needed in practical terms.

Bristol Structural Consulting is part of Xponexus Group, with engineering services delivered by Xponexus Engineering. We support residential alterations and agreed small commercial projects across Bristol and surrounding areas.

Local experience

Local projects. Different structural questions.

The wider Xponexus team’s Bristol work includes rear-extension design, loft and roof alterations, conservatory conversion work and assessment of an existing timber floor for a proposed MMA training space. Each project needs its own assessment; a solution from one property cannot simply be copied to another.

From older masonry terraces in Redland and Bishopston to suburban homes in South Bristol, we start with the building in front of us. Existing drawings, measured information and access to supports can be just as important as the proposed layout.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a structural engineer for my project?

Removing or altering a load-bearing wall, converting a loft, building an extension or installing new beams normally needs structural information to show Building Control that the work is adequate. If you are unsure, describe the proposed work and we will tell you whether structural input is likely to be needed.

How much does a structural engineer cost?

Fees depend on the building, the scope and the information already available. We provide a quotation for the agreed scope before you appoint us, and the initial quotation is free and without obligation.

Do you need to visit the property?

Not always. Some packages can be prepared from good drawings and photographs; others need a site visit or local opening-up to confirm the existing construction. We tell you which applies before you appoint us.

How quickly can you start?

Timescales depend on the scope, whether a visit is needed and the information available. We confirm the anticipated programme with your quotation.
