What a calculation package can cover
Depending on the agreed brief, the design may include steel or timber beams, floor joists, roof members, bearings, posts and foundations. The calculation package records the adopted loading, material assumptions and design checks. Relevant sketches or drawings explain how the designed elements relate to the proposed layout.
Start with reliable information
Send existing and proposed plans, sections where available, a property postcode and photographs. We review spans, load-bearing walls, floor directions and the support arrangement. Where dimensions or construction details are uncertain, we identify the survey or opening-up information needed before the design can be finalised.
Coordinating the design
Architectural layouts and structural requirements need to work together. Beam depth, headroom, wall positions and foundation constraints can affect the intended space. Early coordination helps identify these issues before the builder starts.
What is included in your quotation?
The scope identifies the elements to be designed and the deliverables. Structural calculations do not automatically include a complete architectural Building Regulations drawing pack, drainage design, temporary works, site supervision or design of every existing element. Tell us which services you need so we can define the appointment accurately.
Building Control queries
We provide the agreed structural information for submission and explain the extent of query support included in our appointment. Approval rests with the relevant authority or appointed Building Control body; it is not guaranteed by purchasing calculations.
